How to calculate epoxy for a countertop

For a rectangular countertop, start with the coated surface length × width × wet epoxy depth. EpoxyCalc converts that geometry into litres and US gallons, then keeps your waste allowance visible instead of hiding it inside the formula.

Countertop flood coat versus deep pour

Countertop coatings are normally much thinner than deep-pour castings. A product designed for thick pours is not automatically the best choice for a thin decorative or protective surface coat. Product compatibility should be checked against the manufacturer's intended application and layer guidance.

Allow for edges, drips and mixing losses

A simple rectangular calculation describes the horizontal surface. Real jobs can consume more resin because of vertical edges, rounded profiles, drips, mixing containers, tools and surface irregularities. Use the waste control to build that uncertainty into your purchase estimate.

Example countertop calculation

A 2.4 m × 0.6 m countertop has 1.44 m² of surface area. At a 1 mm wet layer, the theoretical geometric volume is about 1.44 litres before edge losses and waste. A thicker coating increases consumption in direct proportion to the layer depth.
